Cameron Diaz is supporting her longtime friend Drew Barrymore as she divorces husband Will Kopelman, because they “rely on each other”.

The “Never Been Kissed” actress confirmed reports last week that she was splitting from her art consultant spouse after almost four years of marriage. Now her best friend Cameron has insisted she’ll be there for her, like they have for each other ever since they starred together on 2000 action film “Charlie’s Angels.”

“Everybody pulls the wagons around (for) our friends, whoever needs us at whatever point in time,” Cameron tells Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM radio show. “Even if it’s something that the public doesn’t know about. Internally were all going, ‘OK, who needs us now?'”

Cameron also expressed the importance of keeping friendships alive as people get older and settle down and possibly get married and have children.

“We’ve been in this industry for a really long time together, and that’s a feat,” Cameron says of her friendship with Drew. “To have people that you’ve known for that long, those are real relationships, real friendships. We’ve gone through a lot in life together…

“As you get older you start to lose people in your life, and when you lose people in your life, you have less of a purpose… I know, for myself with my girlfriends, how important it is to stay engaged with my girlfriends (and) how close we all are together and how much we rely on each other… We know how important it is to keep connected.”

Cameron, 43, was a bridesmaid at Drew’s wedding to Will in 2012. The former couple also has two daughters, Olive, three, and Frankie, 23 months.

They released a joint statement over the weekend (02-03Apr16) which read, “Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family.”
